The qualification
Your route to becoming a pool lifeguard
We run National Pool Lifeguard Qualification courses throughout the year at our leisure centres in Altrincham, Sale, Stretford and Urmston.
It's a 5-day course, Monday to Friday, and 100% attendance is required. The cost includes a manual and all assessment fees.
Cost: £280 (no VAT), including manual and all assessment fees.
Before you start
Course prerequisites
All candidates must meet the following criteria before starting the course.
01Be 16 years or over on the date of assessment
02Jump or dive into deep water
03Swim 50 metres in no more than 60 seconds
04Swim 100 metres continuously on front and 100 metres continuously on back
05Tread water for 30 seconds in deep water
06Surface dive to the floor of the pool
07Climb out of the pool unaided without using a ladder or steps, where the pool design permits
